About

I am a Swedish historian born in 1992, working primarily with social history. My doctoral thesis were defended at Malmö University in june 2023 and dealt with how policy-makers at state and local level created the social category of immigrants during the last three decades of 20th century. After my thesis defence I have worked as an associated post-doc as well as a senior lecturer at Linneaus, Lund and Malmö university.

Apart from this I have also been hourly employed as a lecturer at Linneaus University, Lund University, Södertörns Högskola and the department of childhood and youth studies (Malmö University). I have also worked as principal investigation for the deans office at Malmö University during the autumn of 2023 as well as a researcher for the Swedish police in Malmö during the spring of 2024.

I have 3739 hours of teacher experience from primarilly teachers education, general history and archival science. I have taught and supervised on both undergraduate and graduate levels. As part of my teacher practice I have also read the following courses on teaching at the university level:

On a private note, I live in the outskirts of Malmö with the love of my life. A few days ago, I attended an interesting seminar with scholars at Linnaeus University, where I am currently employed. The subject was cultural policy and how cultural politics are undergoing transformation, not least due to the ongoing war. Another theme that was explored concerned algorithms and AI, and as I left the seminar I began to reflect on how the world is currently being challenged by the rise of what might be called “everyday algorithms and AI”. Basically, almost all information that citizens encounter on social media today is curated by algorithms. This can, in turn, sometimes lead to dangerous outcomes, such as the material one encounters gradually becoming more and more radical. This happens because algorithms measure both the time users spend engaging with information and how they interact with it. Democracy, right wing populism and social media

In a very simplistic way, humankind can be said to have improved public conversation in society through two important inventions. The first dates back to the 15th century, when Johannes Gutenberg launched the printing press and thereby made it possible to spread ideas rapidly across Western Europe. Gutenberg’s invention also led to increased literacy among the population, often supported by Protestant churches that aimed for people to be able to read (though not necessarily to critically read) Luther’s Catechism . Public conversation, however, also underwent rapid changes when the freedom of the press, radio, and television were introduced. In this paradigm, media was still controlled by groups able to pool resources, making it difficult for the average Joe to take part in public discourse. Bokrecension: Väckelsens vår

 Den senaste tiden har det inte blivit särskilt mycket bloggande, eftersom jag har behövt att fokusera en del på annat skrivande och sjukdom. Under den här tiden har jag däremot läst en del inför ett projekt som än så länge är lite hemligt, men som brett sätt kan sägas beröra svensk högerextremism. Bland de böcker jag läste återfinns den populärvetenskapliga boken Väckelsens vår: När Hitler formade Sverige  av Erik Sandberg. Som med mycket annan populärvetenskap har den både sina förtjänster och det som kan kritiseras.  Grundläggande i Sandbergs bok är att den svenska högern genomgick en kraftig förskjutning mot extremhögern år 1933. Detta var dock inte utslag av ideologi endast, utan även av en form av populism där även vårt nordiska grannland Finland gick i samma riktning.
